Library Skills:
In the Library Skills Program at The Grammar School, one of the main goals is to introduce children to the library itself as a place for lifelong learning. Through book discussion and activities, students learn to respond thoughtfully to literature. They learn about authors and illustrators, library genres, and to appreciate the written word. Students also learn how to use the library’s Dewey Decimal system and the computer as a resource when researching and writing reports. Children become comfortable locating reference materials and gathering facts. The Library at The Grammar School is a positive, child-friendly environment where students are encouraged to inquire, learn or simply curl up with a great book.
