The Grammar School is an independent elementary school (grades K-6), located in the historic Somersville section of Somers, Connecticut. Founded in 1981, The Grammar School is dedicated to providing a positive learning atmosphere that is focused on development of the individual in a secure family environment.
At a time when over crowded classrooms have become the rule rather than the exception, The Grammar School has steadfastly maintained that low student-teacher ratios are a key to providing a well-rounded education that focuses on academic excellence and instilling humanistic values.
The core curriculum (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) is challenging and presented in the morning when young minds are “fresh” and more receptive to learning. In the afternoon, the students are enriched by Art, Music, French, Science, Technology, Library/Research Skills, and Physical Education.
Grammar School graduates are recognized at private and public secondary schools for their passion for learning and commitment to excellence.
Please peruse our website and see what we have to offer. When you are ready to explore the admissions process, contact us to schedule a visit to our campus.
With small class sizes, an enriched curriculum, and a positive family environment, it doesn't take long for a visitor to realize that there is something very special going on here.
Sincerely, Paul Mengel Ed.D.
