Science:
The Science Program at The Grammar School is very much a hands-on learning experience – children learn through real life experiences. Our belief in the innate curiosity of children is the foundation on which we develop our teaching methodologies. Through such activities as our pond life study of the neighboring Mill Pond, we monitor water, wildlife, and ecology. Students investigate the world around then as they test theories to help them better understand the world. Our young scientists work together in small groups planning, testing, and discussing experiments. The curriculum covers the areas of Earth Science, Physical Science, Zoology, Paleontology, Ecology, Botany, Technology, and Anatomy and Physiology. The method of study used in the science program also fosters cooperative learning and problem solving. Through our science program, students learn about their world, and they are encouraged to see themselves in a larger context, feeling the personal impact science has on their lives
