third grade

We like reading about people, places, and traditions around the world. We use maps, globes, compass roses, directions, graphs, charts, and labels to understand the geography of our world. An important question we study is how people get along. This is called interpersonal relationships. We read biographies to understand historical people and the time periods in which they lived. Book reports, especially oral ones where we present our information to the class, are favorite things to work on. Do you know the difference between prefixes, suffixes, and root words? We are learning how these help us determine the meaning of words and our vocabularies are growing by leaps and bounds. We love to make predictions or to change the endings of stories we know so that they become a totally new story we created. We are very proud that we can work with fractions and decimals and that we are able to accurately measure things. Our understanding of numbers is growing and we are able to recognize place value to 10,000. We feel that we are learning to better understand our world and our universe
