The Grammar School Philosophy
At The Grammar School we believe in the power of the creative classroom. An atmosphere of respect for the child coupled with an acknowledgment of the relevance of the global classroom is the foundation for all learning. Our teachers design learning opportunities that are meaningful, current, and rigorous, and that engage students with content on a deep level. They strive to create environments and situations that help students see themselves as capable of navigating the world of ideas. At The Grammar School, students move through questioning, discovery, and active involvement, toward ownership, mastery, and appreciation for life-long learning. For us, the content or subject matter is teamed with the implicit benefits of a Grammar School education. The individual’s connectedness to the classroom community, self confidence, increased understanding, retention of facts, and most importantly the transfer of skills, are all implicit benefits of being a student at The Grammar School. We believe all students can be challenged and we keep our criteria high, yet attainable for each individual. There is no better place for young learners to discover, explore, reach, and accomplish.
