Because we are becoming such excellent readers, we now have reading buddies in kindergarten that we help. We love to have fun with words and use techniques like similes and personification in our writing. Our teacher has us play a game of Literary Wheel of Fortune to pick different kinds of genre to read. We work with dictionaries and thesauruses. Our writing journals help us to further our creative expression. Our geography skills are growing too, and we now know about rivers and oceans and the boundaries between states. A Native American woman spends the day with us every year and we sample her clothing, food, traditions, and beliefs. Our trip to Plimouth Plantation helps us understand how our first settlers lived. One of the skills we are most proud of is geometry. We work with points, rays, lines, shapes, dimensions, and symmetry. Visitors compliment our poise, self-confidence, and respect for others.
